Sentara Norfolk General Hospital serves as the regional referral center for complex brain and spine disorders, offering comprehensive neurosurgical care supported by sophisticated technology, specialized physicians, and coordinated multidisciplinary services. Resources available include intraoperative MRI, image-guided and minimally invasive neurosurgery, awake intraoperative brain mapping, MRI-guided focused ultrasound and advanced functional neurosurgery. Norfolk General Hospital is also home to a dedicated Neurointensive Care Unit, Level 1 Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center.
